Responsibilities
This position is responsible for performing mechanical functions, preventive and corrective maintenance as applicable to job function to ensure proper functioning of mining equipment in an active mining environment and will work under the direction of site management.
Promote safe, effective, and reliable repairs.
Safely inspect, repair, and maintain all types of mechanical equipment and facilities including draglines, coal crushers, coal conveyors, dozers, motor graders, haul trucks, end dumps, backhoes, water trucks, front end loaders, vehicles and shop equipment.
Knowledge of engines, transmissions, hydraulic and electrical systems.
Diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
Proficient knowledge pertaining to machine electronic systems and computer related software/hardware.
Component removal and installation.
Perform painting / carpentry / construction work; operate large motorized equipment, mobile cranes, forklifts and trucks.
Requires ability to recognize inefficiencies / waste in mine operation and problem solving skills to eliminate it.

* LEVEL OF POSITION WILL BE DETERMINED BY APPLICABLE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE.
Position represented by IBEW 2337. Starting hourly rate for Mine Spec II is $38.86. Effective 11/15/2024 hourly rate is $39.97.
Requirements
Education required: High School Diploma, or GED equivalent
Position requires 5 years of heavy equipment mechanical experience (diesel engines, hydraulic systems, conveyor maintenance, welding / fitting, rigging/lifting).
At least two years of experience in the repair of Caterpillar diesel-powered heavy equipment in a shop and field environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of basic math, reading, and writing skills required.
Computer experience preferred
Familiar with an active mining environment preferred.
MSHA certification preferred.
Previous MSHA experience preferred
Work is of a physical nature and performed in and outdoor environment in all weather conditions.
May be required to work a rotating shift of up to 12 hours.
