This is a full-time professional position within the Prentice Gautt Academic Center, a comprehensive support services unit for intercollegiate student-athletes. This individual will serve as a point of contact with academic advisors and the Associate AD for Academic Services in coordinating and implementing academic support services for assigned student-athletes. This position requires consistent and open communication with staff and a thorough understanding of NCAA, Conference, and University guidelines and regulations.
Essential Duties:
Coordinate and implement individualized academic support plans for a designated caseload of student-athletes
Communicate with student-athletes who qualify for services with the Accessibility and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) to arrange accommodations as appropriate
Communicate directly with Academic Center staff regarding student-athletes’ academic progress
Prepare summary reports and updates for pertinent academic support staff, including academic advisors and the Senior Associate Athletics Director for Academic Services
Assist with maintaining and updating the Learning Specialist Operating Manual annually and as required by changes in policy and procedures
Assists with academic program planning, development, and delivery
Assist in managing the day-to-day operations of the academic department
Use Teamworks, Banner, Canvas and other relevant web-based platforms to communicate with the student-athletes in their caseload
Maintain a thorough working knowledge of NCAA, Conference, and University rules, regulations, and policies; understand that rules compliance is a critical element of this position
Regularly communicate the progress, outcomes, and direction of work to the Director of Student-Athlete Enhancement
Make recommendations concerning improvement of programs and services
Serve as a liaison to support department and campus-wide student success efforts through participation in a variety of department activities and committee work
Researches, collects, and analyzes data or information and prepares reports or responses to inquires
Handle other duties as assigned by the Assistant AD for Academic Services
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree, AND;
12 months in student programming, student services, or closely related experience.
Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months related experience in lieu of the bachelor’s degree for a total of 60 months experience.

Skills:
Proficiency and/or familiarity with Banner and Teamworks software
Excellent oral, written and presentation skills and proactive, open and responsive interpersonal skills
Ability to communicate effectively with diverse student populations and university personnel (e.g. faculty, staff, and administrators)
Demonstrated organizational skills, attention to detail, and high degree of openness to new approaches and new ideas
Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information
Highly organized and ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines
Ability to communicate well and build rapport with students, faculty, and staff
Ability to read and interpret policy as well as State and Federal regulations
Departmental Preferences:
Master's degree, or in process of completing a graduate degree program
Three years of experience as an academic counselor, advisor, or educator for a diverse student population
At least one year of supervisory experience with full-time or student staff in a student-athlete academic support unit
Knowledge of FERPA and ethical principles in working with students
Demonstrated and successful experience providing academic support for students at the secondary or postsecondary level
Willingness to seek continuing education and training opportunities for professional growth, and to maintain thorough understanding of best practices in academic support
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
Familiarity with, and willingness to expand working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
Experience coordinating and implementing an academic support program
Knowledge of NCAA and Conference rules and regulations relating to academic support for student-athletes
Experience providing academic support and/or academic advising
