Position Summary

The Packaging General Manager is responsible for providing strategic leadership and expertise across multiple packaging sites, ensuring the production of finished goods aligns with company objectives in terms of culture, safety, quality, cost, volume, and timing. This role involves overseeing multiple packaging sites, leading a team of over 200 individuals, and will be responsible for all CBI US-based wine packaging. Additionally, this position will take on business-critical special projects, working in collaboration with other cross-functional business partners to achieve company goals in a safe and effective manner. The General Manager is accountable for maintaining productivity, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness across all sites while collaborating to develop standard work methods and best practices across the network.

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership and Management:


  • Provide strategic direction and leadership to multiple packaging sites. This will be in the form of 1 Year (Hoshin), 3Y, and 5Y outlooks designed to deliver set KPI milestones over time.


  • Ensure alignment with company-wide objectives and goals.


  • Foster a collaborative environment with other departments and business partners.


Multi-Site Production Oversight:


  • Oversee the scheduling and manufacturing of finished goods across multiple packaging sites.


  • Ensure production at all sites meets quality, volume, and timing objectives.


  • Implement and maintain standard work methods and practices across all locations.


Safety and Compliance:


  • Promote and enforce safe work habits across all packaging sites.


  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.


  • Ensure a routine of regular safety audits and training sessions at each site.


Wine Quality Management:


  • Leverage deep knowledge of cellars and winemaking processes to improve current methods.


  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality wine products to our consumers.


  • Collaborate with winemaking, cellar and quality teams to implement best practices and innovative techniques.


  • Monitor and maintain quality standards throughout the production process.


Efficiency and Productivity:


  • Monitor and improve productivity and efficiency across all packaging sites.


  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize production processes.


  • Standardize, track, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for each site.


  • Leverage an understanding of maintenance processes to ensure a robust reliability-centered maintenance plan is in place to support packaging assets.


Cost Management:


  • Manage budgets and expenses for multiple packaging sites.


  • Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.


  • Ensure cost accountability within each site and across the department.


Special Projects Management:


  • Lead and manage additional special projects as assigned.  Examples include: Ownership of the 1Y Hoshin strategic plan and Ownership of the Continuous Improvement Green Belt Process.


  • Ensure special projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.


  • Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to achieve project goals.


Collaboration and Communication:


  • Strive to live the CBI Leadership Standard and create an inclusive culture of high-performing teams.


  • Work closely with other departments, sites and functions to achieve common goals.


  • Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders across all sites.


  • Address and resolve any inter-departmental or inter-site issues.


3rd Party Production Oversight:


  • Oversee 3rd party production at a site level, ensuring alignment with company standards and objectives.


  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Co-pack partners through collaboration with Strategic Wine Partners Team.


  • Deliver a total annual revenue of $10−15 million (current) through 3rd party production, directly contributing to divisional EBIT goals.


  • Ensure quality, cost, and delivery targets are met by Co-pack partners.


Mobile Bottling Production:


  • Lead mobile bottling production, overseeing the new company-owned mobile bottling asset.


  • Collaborate cross-functionally and across multiple customers to ensure schedules are achieved.


  • Ensure the mobile bottling unit meets quality, volume, and timing objectives.


  • Develop and maintain standard work methods and practices for mobile bottling operations.


Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food Packaging or related field (equivalent combination of education and experience would be considered)


  • 10 to 15 years of leadership experience.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role within a manufacturing or packaging environment.


  • Strong understanding of production processes and quality control.


  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.


  • Ability to manage budgets and control costs across multiple sites.


  • Strong project management skills and the ability to handle special projects.


  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure.


  • Solid understanding of maintenance fundamentals.


  • Clear understanding of Health and Safety principles as applied to manufacturing.


  • Experience in driving continuous improvement and operational efficiency.

The salary range for this role is:

$165,300.00 - $275,500.00

This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, the prevailing minimum wage for the location, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs.
