The purpose of this position is to educate and inform Publix associates about Publix’s strategy, policies, products, programs, events, accomplishments and initiatives that affect or impact them and/or our customers. This is done by developing strategic communication plans, determining communication tactics and managing the execution of the plans with the Corporate Communications Coordinator and the business areas/cross-functional teams. The impact this position has on Publix is crucial in promoting and protecting Publix’s brands and strategy. This position will determine objectives for and oversee execution of internal and external communication plans that support our strategy, goals and interests.
What you’ll do

manage projects that support the strategy maps of business areas across the company as well as the retail and corporate maps
evaluate communication strategies and deliverables to determine if they met company objectives and project goals
serve as the subject matter expert in associate-directed communications on cross-functional teams, representing corporate communications, media and community relations, government relations, customer care/social media and special projects
Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Strategic Communications or Business Communication, or a related field
At least 5 years of experience in the fields of public relations, journalism, integrated marketing communication, or business communication
At least 1 year experience of managing a direct report
At least 2 years of experience in multimedia/electronic communication
At least 2 years of experience managing projects
Experience using and defining metrics for communications programs/tactics
Experience with html
Experience working with senior leadership
Knowledge of campaign development to strategically plan a campaign to solve a business problem
Knowledge of effective print, video, digital and social communication tactics and their related production and distribution methods
Knowledge of photographic design and elements.
Knowledge of Associated Press style
Knowledge of benefits, insurance and financial terminology, and communication laws
Leadership, project management and time management skills
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
Interpersonal skills
Ability to persuade, negotiate, compromise and exercise conflict resolution with tact, professionalism and diplomacy

Willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays and overnights, up to a week at a time, to meet business needs.
Willingness to travel via plane or car to locations throughout the company and to additional areas for training or research purposes
Master’s Degree in Communications or Business
At least 7 years of experience in public relations, journalism or business communication.
At least 3 years of experience of managing a direct report
At least 4 years of experience in multimedia/electronic communication in benefits information, financial information, and project management
At least 1 year of Publix or other retail experience
Certification/accreditation, such as Accredited in Public Relations (APR), Accredited in Business Communication (IABC), or Certified Public Relations Professional Counselor (CPRC)
Knowledge of Publix strategy
Knowledge of Publix structure, with regards to job classifications, titles, divisions, support areas and reporting structure
Knowledge of company programs and initiatives
Knowledge of various business areas, their initiatives and timelines
Knowledge of the supermarket retail industry and business
Knowledge of digital communications (i.e., Publix Connection, PASSport, publix.org, stock website, publix.com and mobile platforms) and their structure and functionality
Knowledge of Publix’s policies on safety, dress code and appearance standards, recycling, etc.
Knowledge of basic Publix financial information (background, current status and reporting timetable).
Ability to see big picture of company operations
Ability to edit and proofread communications accurately
Intermediate skill level in SharePoint
