Position Summary:

We are looking for an Associate Director, Talent Management as a key leader within the global Talent Management team. The Associate Director of Talent Management will be responsible for playing a key role in the organization to lead transformational work, including the design and implementation of our talent management programs serving a global population of 9,000+.

You will have the opportunity to evolve current practices while introducing new performance enablement and learning development initiatives to drive business results. This position reports to the Director, Talent Management.

*The candidate's preferred location will be within a commutable distance to our San Diego HQ. Illumina offers hybrid and remote work arrangements.

Responsibilities:

Talent Management


  • This role has responsibility across the talent management landscape. Including but not limited to:

    • Talent Reviews, succession planning, and performance

    • Employee Listening

    • Team enablement and effectiveness

    • Development

    • Coaching



  • Lead the evolution of our global talent management programs, leveraging key expertise to advance these initiatives in accordance with best-in-class practices.

  • Collaborate with the broader Talent and HR teams to develop and scale future strategies related to performance management, succession planning, talent reviews and appraisals

  • Create and monitor relevant metrics and KPIs to proactively diagnose and address key talent trends and measure the return on investment for our programs.

  • Drive effective and impactful talent calibration and reviews in partnership with HR Business Partners and leadership teams.

  • Educate the business about talent lifecycle initiatives, highlighting processes, tools, and best practices.

  • Bring an inclusion and diversity lens to all talent-related programs.

  • Partner with Project Management and HRIS teams to embed new Talent management processes within the business and integrate with technology solutions.

Requirements:


  • Typically requires 10 years of related experience and a Bachelor's degree

  • Degrees or expertise in Human Resources, Industrial & Organizational Psychology, (or other related field) highly desired

  • Experience building and scaling talent management programs in a global organization.

  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.

  • Ability to consult and partner with executive level leadership.

  • Proven track record of designing and implementing successful talent programs: succession planning, performance management, appraisals, talent reviews, etc.

  • Ability to understand business imperatives and translate to HR initiatives.

  • Intellectual curiosity and the ability to learn the business and understand what drives business results and outcomes.

  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Data-driven mindset with the ability to analyze program metrics and drive actionable insights.

  • Change management expertise, with the ability to navigate organizational shifts and drive adoption.

  • Proficiency in HR technology and tools related to talent management and learning management systems. Experience with Workday strongly preferred.

The estimated base salary range for the Associate Director, Talent Management (Hybrid) role based in the United States of America is: $152,600 - $228,800. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual's qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
