Assist Facilities Manager with management of the National Weather Center.
Duties include:
Communication and Coordination:
Be on-call 24 hours per day to respond to urgent or emergency maintenance needs
Coordinates building operations and facility maintenance.
Determines maintenance policies and procedures and ensures that maintenance staff are trained to observe established standards
Assists supervisor with coordination and communication to affected parties on any repairs, maintenance, and upgrades information affecting the NWC occupants
Assists supervisor with liaison duties between NOAA entities and NWC building management in relation to maintenance and support needs
Maintenance:
Helps determine needed upgrades and repairs.
Performs preventative maintenance and minor repairs to equipment and systems.
Serve as maintenance expert on special projects related to new construction and renovations
Maintains supply inventory for batteries, tools, etc. for use/install in the NWC
Assist supervisor with routine inspections of NWC space (interior and exterior) and requests needed repairs/upgrades to OU FM and other appropriate parties
Assist supervisor through close communication with OU FM staff to ensure that preventative maintenance (PM) provided as needed/scheduled (carbon air filters, etc)
Assist supervisor with programing and maintenance of Locknetics Campus Lock system providing access for NWC occupants. Will include oversight of NWC access groups to include SoonerCard access requests, oversight, and proper documentation
Monitors building and infrastructure systems and provides response to emergencies and equipment failures
Other duties:
Serves as the building safety coordinator and provides response to emergencies and equipment failures.
Assist the facilities manager with management of the National Weather Center
Assist supervisor and NWC Event Manager with preparation for events, academic classes, etc. as needed
Performs record keeping operations, making changes to existing records, including computerized records.
Allocates shower and bike lockers to NWC occupants upon request and maintains records for same
Assists supervisor by providing suggestions to NWC management to improve overall quality and day-to-day operations
Act as back up for Dock Manager and Assistant Director of Operations when necessary. Coordinates building operations and facility maintenance
Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.
Required Education: Bachelor's degree, AND:
24 months of professional building management facilities experience
Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months of related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree for a total of 72 months of related experience.
Skills:
Able to work independently w/minimal instruction
Skilled and knowledgeable in using building maintenance tools, equipment, supplies, and hand tools.
Effective oral and written communication and comprehension
Strong initiative to solve problems, and exercise some discretion, ingenuity, and independent judgement
Must be able to work independently and with interdepartmental teams and initiatives
Basic computer skills using Excel, Word, and other Microsoft Office products
Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
Able to work well with interdepartmental teams and initiatives
Basic knowledge and understanding of various HVAC systems and their components, as well as electrical systems, plumbing, carpentry, and painting
Must use established occupational health and safety practices
Must be able to be on call for building emergencies
Certifications:
Must pass Federal background check
Physical Requirements:
Climbing ladders, working at heights
Lifting and carrying loads up to 100 lbs.
Prolonged standing and walking
Climbing stairs, including carrying while climbing
Excessive stooping and bending
Manual dexterity
Occasional exposure to temperature changes, wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, or airborne particles
Departmental Preferences:
6 months or more of experience in a facilities and operations role
X-Ray interpretation and/or certification for use in Shipping and Receiving
Prior experience with logistics and setup for events
