Accounting Clerk II- FinanceDescription/Job Summary

BCCC's Finance and Administration is looking for an Accounting Clerk II. The positions reports to the Manager of Accounting.

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Assists in collecting and compiling data for inclusion in budget documents, financial statements, grants, and other reports. Assists in monitoring departmental accounts by gathering reports and records and identifying errors and discrepancies.

  • Inputs data, records and verifies details of financial transactions in journals, ledgers and automated systems.

  • Reviews and processes financial documents such as invoices, vouchers, receipts, requisitions, timesheets and reports, ensuring accuracy of mathematical computations and completeness.

  • Assists in maintaining detailed records of financial transactions in journals, ledgers, and automated systems. Verifies and approves vendor payment requests in the Financial System(s).

  • General office administrative duties such as sorting and opening mails, filing, responding to phone, etc.. Obtains coding for checks received in the US mail and/or ACH transactions received.

  • Assists with daily/monthly reconciliation and audit requests.

  • Vendor management in the financial systems that included adding, changing, and deleting vendors.

  • Requests changes for vendors in the State system from oversight agency for changes that only that no authorization is provided from the oversight agency. Maintains the Working Fund and Emergency Loans accounts that include journal entries, issuing of checks, ledgers, and recording for accuracy.

  • Performs accounts receivable functions that includes but not limited creating and issuing invoices, collection notices, maintaining accounts receivable, and reconcile accounts.

Required Skills

  • General knowledge of bookkeeping principles, mathematical methods and techniques and accounting standards.

  • Skills in performing mathematical computations, in reviewing and processing financial documents and in reconciling financial data.


  • Ability to communicate effectively


Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree in business or accounting. Work experience may be substituted on a year-to-year basis relevant in the fields of business, accounting, or banking.


  • At least 1 year of accounting clerical experience (Accounting Clerk II)
