Description:

The Department of Pathobiology at the University of Pennsylvania's School of Veterinary Medicine is inviting applications for a research position to study leishmaniasis. Experimental work will focus on defining the role of malnutrition on mice experimentally infected with Leishmania parasites. Additionally, these studies will include investigating the intersection of the skin microbiome and immune responses to Leishmania. Another group of studies will evaluate gene expression of T cell subsets in leishmanial lesions, with a focus on better characterizing resident memory T cells. An understanding of the experimental models used to study leishmaniasis is important. The goal of these investigations will be to identify new approaches for host-directed therapies and for the development of vaccines for this debilitatingdisease. The successful applicant for this position will be expected to be proficient in murine studies and have a strong background in immunology. The successful applicant for this position will be expected to be proficient in murine studies and have a strong background in immunology.


Qualifications:


Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree and post-doctoral experience. Salary will be commensurate with the candidate's training and experience.
