The Associate Chaplain will be open and willing to work with people of all backgrounds listed above and any other backgrounds not listed within the execution of this role. The Associate Chaplain will report to the Dean of Religious Life/Chaplain and be a part of the Center for Religion, Spirituality and Social Justice (CRSSJ) team. This team is an office under the Division of Student Affairs. We serve the entire campus providing spiritual, emotional, and communal support in a multi-faith capacity. Other members of the CRSSJ team include the Muslim Prayer Leader (part-time), the Associate Director of First-Generation & Low-Income Student Programs, and our Administrative Assistant. The primary duties of the Associate Chaplain position include providing religious services and offerings on campus aligned with the Associate Chaplain's faith tradition, providing pastoral counseling, supporting interfaith work on campus, supporting religious/spiritual student organizations, working with on-campus partners to create an inclusive environment on campus, supporting the Grinnell Advocates (peer-led sexual violence support hotline), and being a positive presence on campus.
