The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics department of Radiology is seeking a Nursing Assistant to, under direct supervision, assists the members of the nursing team in provision of multiple types of patient care in in-patient and out-patient care areas. Their work requires familiarity with a wide variety of nursing procedures used in delivering patient care.
Duties Include:
Transport patients in a safe and efficient manner
Provide for patients' comfort and privacy
Report pertinent patient information to RN or technologist
Share responsibility for preparation, proper use and care of equipment and supplies for neatness and cleanliness of unit
Perform tasks according to hospital/department policies or standards of care
Follow MRI Safety Guidelines
Room turn over in the MRI room.
Call floors for travel information and send MRI screening forms

Minimum Eligibility Requirements
Ability to read, write and follow instructions
Desired Qualifications
Knowledge of unit and departmental routines and facilitates patient throughput
Ability to communicate effectively with staff, students, patients, and the public
Ability to follow oral and written instructions
Obtain medical assistance for any patient who becomes ill while in area. Responds appropriately in emergencies within the nursing assistant scope of practice
Answer all phone calls by 2nd or 3rd ring when workload permits and uses appropriate identification information
Transfer calls to appropriate areas and answers questions by callers
Use intercom system to page appropriately
Accept and acts upon constructive criticism
Maintain clean, organized work area
Adhere to established schedule and rules regarding breaks, planned time off, unplanned timed off
Facilitate communication of patient "hand off" information
