Job Description:

DESCRIPTION

The Construction Inspector will serve as a key member of the firm's growing construction management discipline by providing construction inspection and documentation services to the Illinois Department of Transportation District 2 (IDOT D2) on construction contract 64N05 (I-80 from the Rock River to US 6). The project will include construction activities such as patching, milling, and resurfacing on I-80 from the Rock River to US 6 including bridge deck repairs on structures over the Rock River, Cleveland Road, and IAIS Railroad in Henry County near Colona, IL.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Inspect construction crews' work to ensure compliance with the contract documents including plans and specifications on active construction contracts in Illinois Department of Transportation District 2 (IDOT D2)
  • Identify and inform the project engineer or project supervisor of observed problems
  • Work with supervisor to address public and contractor questions
  • Make measurements and observations of work being performed to ensure accurate quantities are tracked for completed work
  • Electronically document pay quantities, material requirements, and contractor staff in a daily work report.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Illinois Department of Transportation District 2 (IDOT D2) is preferred
  • Documentation of Contract Quantities (IDOT class S-14) Certification is preferred
  • Illinois construction inspection or related experience
  • Possess a valid driver's license
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Possess strong math skills
  • Willingness to commute to construction projects in varying locations within IDOT D2 (especially in Colona, IL), work in all weather conditions, varying shifts, and weekends
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to prioritize project assignments to meet competing deadlines
  • Attention to detail and effective decision making and organizational skills
  • Ability to provide support to local office, as well as availability to occasionally travel to other offices
  • Ability to assist in developing strategic approaches and concepts

COMPENSATION

The approximate compensation range for this position is $31.75- $54.00 per hour. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
