Michael Baker International has an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Associate to join our largest office located in Moon Township, PA, to provide electrical systems/mechanical process/instrumentation field commissioning tasks on a large wastewater plant expansion program in Pittsburgh, PA. This assignment will be located at the Owner's facilities working a number of large and complex wastewater treatment plant projects. The successful candidate will become part of Michael Baker International's Construction Services Department which includes highway, aviation, electrical, rail, traffic and water/wastewater construction managers/engineers. Our Pittsburgh staff also supports other offices throughout the country with specialized electrical engineering design and construction management services.

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic, motivated, self-starter, with responsibilities that include preparation of commissioning databases, logs and deliverable tracking. Experience with electrical/instrumentation/process acceptance testing, physical testing and operational demonstration procedures. With a current focus on growing Water/Wastewater project opportunities, along with market-driven diversification including Rail/Transit, Highways, Decorative Lighting, and Bridges/Tunnels. The candidate will work in multi-disciplinary, collaborative construction management team with Civil Engineers, Architects, and Systems Engineers. The successful candidate must demonstrate creative problem-solving, initiative to learn new concepts, organizational skills, an ability to work in a team environment with Engineers, Operations Staff and Contractors and provide onsite support for all startup/commissioning activities. They will assist lead Commissioning Manager with the development of deliverable schedules, test plan reviews, on site acceptance/physical testing and performance testing of all major plant process. This can be a remote position.

Specific duties will include:


  • Work with a multi-disciplinary team to execute a commissioning plan
  • Testing equipment, facilities, and newly installed plant processes to ensure they are functioning correctly
  • Assisting onsite inspection team to insure all electrical/mechanical/HVAC/process installation are per plan and specification
  • Coordinate with Owner's Operations and Maintenance Staff, Engineering Staff and Integration Consultant onsite
  • Assist in development the commissioning plan, which includes method statements, site instructions, deviation list, base design comments, and more
  • Perform process constructability reviews
  • Inspect and witness all onsite acceptance and performance testing
  • Review and log contractor commissioning submittals to track status and delivery
  • Reviewing installed mechanical/HVAC/electrical/instrumentation/process controls work to ensure it is complete and accurate for commissioning activities
  • Overseeing all mechanical/HVAC/electrical/instrumentation/process controls testing to ensure that testing is fully completed and supports the overall commissioning schedule
  • Verifying all mechanical/HVAC/electrical/instrumentation/process controls is properly documented and signed off as necessary
  • Assist in preparation and submission of asset management/spare parts database to the Owner

Professional Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology with a focus on process control and instrumentation, water/wastewater treatment plant start up and commissioning
  • 5-10 years of related experience
  • Familiarity with the National Electric Code, ANSI ISA Standards and ANSI NETA Acceptance Standards
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word/Excel), Bluebeam ReVu, and Project Management Information Systems (PMIS)
  • Effective visual/verbal/written communication skills are essential.
  • Candidate should possess a proficient understanding of inter-relationships among design/engineering disciplines, clients, and contractors.

COMPENSATION

The approximate compensation range for this position is $72,207-$104,262. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
