Job Description:

JOB PURPOSE:

The Materials Manager will oversee the efficient operation of our logistics, warehouse, and procurement functions, ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of medical devices to our clients. This role is critical in maintaining the integrity of our supply chain and inventory management processes, guaranteeing that our products meet the highest standards of quality and compliance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Logistics Management:


  • Develop and implement logistics strategies to optimize transportation and distribution processes.

  • Coordinate with suppliers, manufacturers and customers to ensure seamless product flow.

  • Monitor and analyze transportation costs, delivery times, and logistics performance metrics.

  • Manage Relationships with freight carriers and third-party logistics providers.

Warehouse Operations:


  • Oversee daily warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, picking, packing, and shipping activities.

  • Ensure the accuracy of inventory records through regular audits and cycle counts.

  • Implement and maintain inventory management systems to streamline operations.

  • Develop and enforce safety procedures and protocols to maintain a safe working environment.

Inventory Management:


  • Maintain optimal inventory levels to meet customer demand while minimizing carrying costs.

  • Maintain safe work practices and inventory FIFO requirements are followed

  • Develop and implement inventory control procedures to prevent stockouts, overstock situations, and product obsolescence.

  • Collaborate with the procurement team to forecast demand and manage supply chain disruptions.

Procurement Management:


  • Collaborate with the sales team to forecast demand and manage the procurement team. Minimizing supply chain disruptions and reducing material costs is a critical function of this role.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, negotiating contracts and ensuring quality standards.

  • Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers and trends in the industry.

  • Evaluate supply performance and implement improvement plans as necessary.

  • Collaborate with internal departments to understand their material needs and ensure alignment with overall business goals.

  • Work closely with the plant controller to identify waste, material price increases, reduce overhead cost, and minimize inventory by improving the inventory turnover ratio.  

Team Leadership:


  • Lead, train, and mentor warehouse, logistics, and procurement staff to ensure high performance and professional development.

Foster a collaborative and positive work environment, promoting teamwork and effective communication

QUALIFICATIONS (Education/Experience/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

Required:


  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in coordinating, warehouse, and procurement management, preferably in the medical device or healthcare industry.

  • Strong knowledge of planning software, inventory management systems, and procurement processes.

  • Proven leadership and team management abilities.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

  • This position is for our Tucson AZ office, and the individual accepting this position must conduct oneself with professionalism in accordance with Spectrum core values.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication, and critical thinking skills, excellent organizational skills, strong people skills are necessary, as well as willingness to accept and task ownership of new responsibilities in a fast-growing environment.

  • Additional requirements include a working knowledge of MS Excel, Word, and Outlook, and the ability to multi-task.

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to medical device planning, warehousing, and procurement is a plus.

WORKING CONDITIONS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The noise level in the work environment is usually low. Frequent walking will be required to oversee daily support operations in the warehouse. The kitting area, incoming, warehouse inventory racks, cleanliness of the warehouse, along with the logistics of product placement for warehouse packaging will require daily oversite. Working with our internal engineering department to order and segregate materials required for engineering support and production needs. Work closely with the quality department to control materials approved and not approved for production use. Hours may vary depending on production/customer demand.
