Coordinator - Early College Access & ProgramsDescription/Job Summary

The Coordinator of Early College Access and Programs reports to the Assistant Dean of Early College and Access Program, supports the Assistant Dean of Early College and Access Programs to develop a student first model and appreciation and respect for shared governance. The Coordinator of Early College and Access Programs plays a critical role in strengthening partnerships and dual enrolled pathways with Baltimore City Public Schools and other education institutions. The position works closely with counselors and administrators at partner high schools and home school associations to build a dual enrollment and recruitment program to enroll students. The Coordinator of Early College Access and Programs will assist the Assistant Dean of Early College Access and Programs to build relationships with high schools throughout the greater Baltimore metropolitan area, implementing marketing strategies, providing support services prior to, during, and after enrollment. The Coordinator of Early College Access and Programs works in collaboration with various campus departments such as Student Accounting, Student Success Center, Information Technology, Academic Affairs, Workforce Development, and Marketing and Communications. The individual performs other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Supervises the full-time Early College Access and Programs Advisor and student employees assigned to the office.

  • Assists Admissions and the Mayor's Scholars Program for recruitment of Early College students.

  • Assists in the growth, development, and promotion of the Early College programs, including preparation of guidelines for schools, students, and academic departments.

  • Builds relationships with high schools assessing the needs of high school early college students and local schools.

  • Supports the Assistant Dean of Early College and Access Programs in analyzing and collecting student recruitment data.

  • Assists with marketing and promotion strategies to ensure participation in the Early College Access programs and interest in full-time enrollment at BCCC.

  • Coordinates orientation, academic support, and student engagement during enrollment at BCCC.

  • Works with the Assistant Dean and Academic Affairs to develop and provide Early College orientation to high school students.

  • Visits middle schools and high schools to establish partnerships and provide support to Early College Access high school students.

  • Assists in the coordination of on campus tours to prospective students interested in the Early College Access Programs.

  • * Recruits high school students to participate in the Early College Access program at BCCC.

  • * Other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education.

  • Five years of progressive experience related to early college programs, advising and retention.

  • At least three years of managerial experience.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to succeed in a dynamic, fact paced environment.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with students and student accounts, financial aid, and academic departments. Demonstrated collaborative and conflict resolution skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A master's degree in higher education administration, counseling, or related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher education.

  • A working knowledge of BANNER or similar ERP.

  • Seven or more years of progressive experience related to early college programs and student retention.
