The position is responsible to apply formulation capabilities to evaluate and advance project charters targeting simplification of products, raw materials and processes for deployment across canine and feline dry, wet, and care & treat technologies in NA. The position is accountable to support the initiatives and targets generated by the Competitive Complexity team across relevant NA production sites. This position will work strategically and co-functionally to provide formulation and technical support and perform analytical work while maintaining quality design and delivering desired product performance to both the consumer and pet. The position will recommend implementation strategies that support efficiency, cost savings and business continuity.

What are we looking for?
Minimum Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree in Animal Science, Food Science, Food Chemistry, Biology, Chemistry or related technical field

  • 5+ years of experience in Formulation, Animal Nutrition and Health, Pet/Companion Animal Pharma, Feed Additives/Premixes ora related field (Formulation experience strongly preferred)

  • Good understanding of scientific principles (chemical, microbiological, physical) associated with pet food nutrition, food systems, food preparation, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and ingredient and ingredient/process interactions; HACCP working knowledge

  • Knowledge and experience with basic analytical and system skills like SAP, Veritas, least cost formulation software, etc.

  • Proficient math and computer skills are required (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)

  • Proficient in and consistently uses good documentation practices

Preferred Qualifications


  • Advanced degree in Animal Science, Food Science, Food Chemistry, Biology, Chemistry, or related technical field

  • Experience in SAP, BOM recipe documentation and understanding of recipe design software

  • 3+ years of work experience in R&D in the food manufacturing or related industry

  • Support Competitive Complexity charters by providing recipes, and formulation support enabling the delivery of project targets and product performance.

  • Support the development and implementation of recipes and raw materials in the factory consistent with business processes and company standards for quality and performance.

  • Support finished product testing plans enabling most efficient use of budget available.

  • Demonstrate a quality culture in actions, words, and spirit.
