Your Role:
Tetra Tech is currently seeking a Senior Environmental Scientist/ Human Health Risk Assessor for our Chantilly, VA operations with extensive experience conducting human health risk assessments in accordance with applicable guidance and requirements, especially related to CERCLA/Superfund sites. Experience conducting and knowledge of ecological risk assessments is also preferred.
The ideal candidate will provide support on a variety of environmental projects, including remedial investigations/feasibility studies, site investigations, and training/technical support assignments. This position will involve providing technical support to U.S. EPA contracts supporting the Superfund and Brownfields programs. Other projects could include support to emergency response, site assessment and cleanup projects.
Primary work will involve preparing and conducting technical review of risk assessments. Anticipated work also includes preparing and conducting technical reviews of other project deliverables, including RI/FS reports, RODs, and other investigation, cleanup, response action decision documents. Work may also include managing projects, overseeing or supporting data management tasks, providing technical support, and presenting training classes. Additional job responsibilities include:
Candidates must have 10-15 years of experience in conducting, authoring, directing, and conducting technical review of multi-media human health risk assessments with increasing levels of project complexity and responsibility. Strong Superfund/RCRA-related risk assessment experience is required. Previous experience working on EPA projects with an emphasis on Superfund sites is required. Knowledge of federal and state regulations is also required. Experience with data quality/evaluation/validation, hazardous waste, site investigations, site remediation, and field sampling is highly desirable. Must be detailed-oriented.

Education and Certifications:
B.S. degree in Biology, Ecology, or other related environmental science degree required. M.S. degree in public health, toxicology, or related preferred.
Physical Demands:
Primarily office work. Some fieldwork may take place that could involve visiting a Superfund or similar hazardous waste site.
Work Environment:
Work will be primarily from office or home office (with proper connectivity and authorization) locations. Some travel (up to 25%) may be needed occasionally to visit project sites, participate in meetings, and meet with clients.
