Summary of Duties:
This Student Affairs position is responsible for coordination of the Access Center Adaptive and Assistive Technologies (AT) Programs and Classroom Access. This position leads a small group of student workers who assist with book conversions and classroom access. This position oversees the conversion and editing of all text materials into accessible formats and closely monitors and directs hourly employees to produce converted material in a timely and accurate manner. This position guides a team of technology consultants (student trainers) who train students in the use of specific assistive and adaptive technologies. This position collaborates with Access Center advisors, students, faculty, and Academic Outreach and Innovation to ensure that complete delivery of classroom accommodations is met. This position troubleshoots problems with AT and oversees adaptive equipment/furniture check out and return. This position serves as an AT resource for WSU Pullman campus faculty and serves as a member of university committees devoted to ADA assistive technology/ universal design/accessible web-site issues.
Required Qualifications:
Positions require a Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of professional work experience in student services or related education/experience. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year‐for‐year basis.
Experience working with individuals with disabilities in an educational environment
Proven abilities training people in the use of computer applications, problem-solving computer issues
Demonstrated effective interpersonal, written and oral communications skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated organizational skills
Experience with the evaluation, selection and implementation of Assistive Technologies
Working knowledge of or the ability to master the use of Adaptive Technologies and the following specialized software applications: Read Speaker- Glean - Dragon Naturally Speaking - JAWS - Zoom Text
Professional work experience providing services relating to technology to students with disabilities in a college or university setting
Certification in Assistive Technologies Applications
Experience and/or formal education related to specialized Adaptive Technologies hardware such as Braille printers, etc.
Experience supervising and leading the work of student temporary staff
Experience training full-time staff, student staff and student clients in the use of Assistive Technology hardware and software.
Knowledge of physical, sensory, and learning disabilities in adults
Knowledge of the ADA and Section 504 and 508 of Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and how they apply to post-secondary education
Demonstrated ability to quickly research, learn and then apply new software applications
Demonstrated commitment to customer service and the ability to respond to issues with good judgment and flexibility
Demonstrated sensitivity to and the desire to promote diversity

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.
