The Opportunity:


The Graduate School at Washington State University (WSU) invites candidates to apply for their Program Coordinator who is responsible for incoming Graduate Assistantship appointments. You will have a broad range of responsibilities for overseeing actions including but not limited to, new hires, renewals, data changes, compensation changes, summer appointments, costing allocations etc. You will interact with a diverse group of internal and external contacts at all levels of the organization. You will review, approve, recommend edits/corrections on incoming assistantship actions. You will serve as a resource for WSU departments and students providing guidance with Graduate Assistantship questions, and provide training on policies and procedures. The successful candidate will begin as either a Program Coordinator or a Program Assistant depending on their level of experience.





Required Qualifications:



Program Coordinator:




  • High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of experience in the program specialty OR equivalent education/experience.





  • Specialty: Two years demonstrated experience in personnel related administrative functions or related equivalent education/experience.




  • Demonstrated experience working with confidential and/or sensitive information.




  • Computer skills and competency with Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.




  • Experience in communicating clearly, both verbally and in writing, to help staff understand program requirements, roles, and goals.







Program Assistant:




  • High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of full-time clerical experience OR equivalent education/experience.




  • Demonstrated experience working with confidential and/or sensitive information.




  • Computer skills and competency with Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.




  • Experience in communicating clearly, both verbally and in writing, to help staff understand program requirements, roles, and goals.






Preferred Qualifications For All:




  • A Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration or closely allied field.




  • Experience in higher education setting and knowledge of graduate assistantships.




  • Experience with WSU systems such as Workday and myWSU PeopleSoft.




  • Experience coordinating programs in the areas of student services, academic services, student activities, or other closely related programs.




  • Analytical skills, problem-solving logic, and time management skills.

Monthly Salary:


Program Coordinator: $3,4,77 - $4,632 | Range 40 Step A - M



Program Assistant: $3,239 - $4,299 | Range 37 Step A - M


Successful candidates typically begin at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.
