Position Summary: The general foreman is a field role position directly responsible for the supervision, assignment and coordination of gas crew construction, replacement, retirement and maintenance activities. The general foreman continuously improves safety culture by exhibiting strong safety behaviors and core company values to create a safe work culture. The general foreman ensures the productive workforce supports all divisional, departmental, site and corporate goals while in accordance with all company policies and local, state, and federal regulations. The general foreman will direct the work and provide technical assistance to crew foremen assigned to assist him/her and craft employees working under lump sum, unit price, and hourly price contracts. It is preferred the general foreman have 5 years of continuous experience. The general foreman may participate in job estimation and client development and could attend pre-bid meetings and conduct client pre-construction meetings. The general foreman will be responsible for the safety, efficient scheduling, and work quality of crews in his/her area. This qualified individual will possess the skills to schedule and oversee multiple crews in multiple geographic areas and should possess the ambition to develop into the position of superintendent.
Essential Functions:
o Gas main installation or retirement.
o System improvement of gas infrastructure components.
o Service installation
o Mentor, coach, train, develop, and evaluate employees
o Parcel research and service replacements
o Inspection/QAQC
o Horizontal directional drilling
o Gas and electric joint trench capability
o Pipeline testing
o Ability to obtain licenses and permits required for work

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical equipment and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is performed in outside weather conditions.
