National Account Manager- Vocational at Peterbilt of Des Moines

Job Description:

National Account Manager- Vocational will be responsible for achieving sales goals and building lasting relationships with a selected group of large fleet accounts within vocational sectors as defined by the sales director.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Sell a minimum of 300 trucks per year.

Develop fleet account/national account relationship establishing sales and support service depth within the customer's organization.

Communicate and collaborate with MPG colleagues in parts and service on fleet account plans and actions.

Complete TMI within 3 months.

Attend all MPG, Peterbilt, and third party training classes as assigned.

Study truck and equipment specifications to improve knowledge of product performance and application.

Gather market data and conduct research on each assigned account, building a knowledge base of all aspects of each accounts business activities.

Develop account plan for each account with specific actions targeting all functional areas of a customers operation. Plans should be time specified.

Develop customer presentations that are highly detailed, professional and bound.

Collaborate with fellow employees and suppliers.

Follow up on all details pertaining to orders and transaction paperwork.

Secure customer commitments.

Develop trainer level competency in product walkarounds- all Peterbilt products (within 12 months and continue to train as products are changed or replaced).

Develop trainer level competency with Peterbilt SmartLinq (within 12 months).

Ability to recite base warranties for Peterbilt, Cummins, Eaton, Meritor, Allision.

Maintain professional appearance that would be accepted at an executive level.

Other tasks as assigned.

Education:

Prefer four year college degree. A minimum of five years fleet account/national account sales responsibility.

Computer Skills:

Moderate to intermediate computer skills with fundamental computer operations, spreadsheets, word processing, database, e-mail, and CRM software.

Language Skills:

The ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, legal documents, and government regulations.

The ability to write reports, and business correspondence with content that is compelling to a "c-suite" executive.

The ability to effectively present information and respond to questions, common inquires, or complaint, from customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills:

The ability of performing basic math as well as calculating figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, statistics, area, circumference, and volume.

The ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.

Reasoning Ability:

The ability to give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting, and possessing an understanding of the appropriate time to speak. Ability to discern and plan towards customer changes in business trajectory.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Must have a valid CDL driver's license or be able to attain a CDL driver's license within six months of hire date and meet insurability requirements with the Company's insurance company.

Travel:

Four days per week should be allotted for contacting customers (locally-driving) to follow up on appointments that were previously scheduled and present the pre-planned materials. Out of town/overnight travel will be required from time to time (approximately four to six times per month) to take customers to the various Peterbilt manufacturing and support facilities, supplier facilities and event venues.
