ABOUT THE POSITION

The County of Riverside's Human Resources Temporary Assignment Program (TAP) seeks Temporary Elections Assistants to support the Registrar of Voters' upcoming 2024 November Presidential Election.

Schedule: 8:00am - 5:00pm Monday - Friday, including weekends, and holidays with mandatory overtime as needed.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES
To serve the voting and candidate public by performing a variety of election services and to perform other duties and services, as assigned, within the confines of the Registrar of Voters.


  • DATA ENTRY/PHONES: Primary duties will include registration card entry, vote-by-mail verification, answering phones, and proofing candidate statements and ballot information to ensure translation is correct from English to: Spanish, Korean, Vietnamese, Chinese Mandarin, Chinese Cantonese, or Tagalog.

  • Strong customer service skills are required.

  • Strong bilingual reading, writing, proofing, and speaking ability skills are required.

  • Candidates must be proficient in their respective language and proficient in English, speaking and writing.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: Customer service experience that involved meeting the public, obtaining and recording factual information, or explaining rules, regulations, policies/procedures, ANDmust be bilingual in one of the following languages:

  • Spanish
  • Korean
  • Vietnamese
  • Chinese Mandarin
  • Chinese Cantonese
  • Tagalog
  • Knowledge: Perform routine clerical work; learn office practices, procedures and equipment; make simple arithmetic calculations; understand and follow written and oral instructions; establish and maintain cooperative relations with the public.

    Ability to: Perform general clerical work; Understand and follow both written and oral instructions as well as established policies and procedures; Perform non-sedentary duties; Regularly lift over 25 pounds; Work in a fast-paced environment

    License/Certificate: Possession of a valid California Driver's License may be required.

    SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
    Testing Requirements:
    Bilingual Proficiency: Candidates whose applications indicate bilingual proficiency in one of the following languages: Spanish, Korean, Vietnamese, Chinese Mandarin, Chinese Cantonese, or Tagalog will be required to verify their bilingual skills in a proctored test environment.

    PLEASE NOTE: Appointees will be required to work any shift, including evenings, weekends, and holidays with mandatory overtime as needed.
