The Microencapsulation Section within the Chemistry & Chemical Engineering Division has over 65 years of experience in formulation, process development, and testing of microencapsulated products for a wide range of industries and controlled release applications.
Objectives of this Role:
Formulation and process development and testing of microencapsulated products.
Develop technical solutions and provide input for process improvements.
Constant safety awareness and effective communication with project managers.
Demonstrate willingness and ability to continuously improve, learn, and expand capabilities.
Grow into project manager role.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:
Formulation and process development of microencapsulated products.
Design test methods and evaluate microencapsulated products for controlled release, payload, stability, particle size, and morphology.
Operate and maintain microencapsulation laboratory and production equipment.
Ensure lab operations are performed according to safety requirements.
Gain experience in spray drying, fluid bed coating, emulsion-based polymerization, and milling techniques.
Document research in project notebooks, prepare reports, and contribute to proposal efforts.
Contribute to improvement and optimization of chemical processes.
Improve operation efficiency to include writing/revising procedures and protocols.
Conduct operations under application quality requirements to include FDA's current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP)
Requirements:
Requires a Bachelors degree in Chemistry or Materials Science.
0-1 years: Experience in chemistry lab and with microencapsulation techniques such as spray drying, lyophilization, fluid-bed coating, and milling operations
0-1 years: Experience in maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment
A valid/clear driver's license is required
