Crisis Service Provider

Haven House

Haven House is a 10-bed residential care facility serving children 0-17 years old.  There is a $2/hour differential for the overnight shift, $1/hour for evening shift and .50 cents/hour day shift -  along with a $1/hour weekend differential, for any weekend worked during all shifts added to the base wage. We are looking for a highly motivated individual that enjoys working with children with various mental health needs. Experience working with children is preferred but will train the right individual.

Status:  Full-time and Part-Time 

Hours: 


  • 8 hour shifts with rotating weekends (2 on and one off)

  • Day shift 8am to 4pm

  • Evening shift 4pm to 12am

  • Night shift 12am to 8am

 Requirements:


  • Must be 21 yrs old

  • High school diploma or equivalency

  • Valid Driver’s license

  • Ability to work with individuals and their families

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

 The individual in this position will be responsible for providing Crisis, Short-term Respite (RC), and shelter for children placed in Police Protective Custody (PPC). Hours of CSP will vary and will be in response to client and program needs.  The service is targeted towards children being diverted from a State Hospital (crisis), providing a short period of relief for families with children on the SED weaver (RC), and for those awaiting placement (PPC). The CSP will receive training that includes, but is not limited to, an orientation to mental illness, medications, general treatment approaches, attendant care activities, daily-living skills, dealing with emergency needs, basic counseling skills, CPR, First Aid, De-escalation, Suicide Assessment, Working with Addicts and Professional Standards and Ethics.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must be at least 21 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalency. Be familiar with community resources. Possesses good interpersonal skills. Possesses an interest and investment in working with children. Can work as a member of a treatment team in providing a continuum of services to consumers and their families. The CSP needs to be reliable, responsible, able to work a flexible and varied schedule and can interact effectively with others and to respond appropriately to emergency situations. Have completed or will complete any required training within six months of their employment with Compass Behavioral Health including completion of a state approved basic training program and maintain any state training requirements. Shall attend a minimum of 24 hours of training annually, to improve their knowledge, understanding and practice of child development principles. Must have a valid Kansas driver’s license, proof of auto liability insurance and be able to pass a KBI and SRS background check.  Position is supervised by a QMHP.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:  Will obtain all required training required by the State of Kansas, CPR and First Aid, CPI and will attend any other training and certifications directly related to this position.

 While performing the duties of this position, the employee is exposed to a typical office environment and interaction with many different persons in their homes and in the community.  In addition, the employee travels by automobile and is exposed to changing weather conditions.  The employee will interact with many different persons in varying stages of recovery from their mental illness.
