Surface Mount Utility Operator - 2nd Shift (2:30 PM - 11:00PM) at Federal Signal Corporation

Job Description:

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:



  1. Operator will be responsible for in advance setups of all SMT equipment, ROC PC board labeling and completed PCBoard assembly depanelizing.

  2. Operator will utilize RMT press to insert any PEM/Standoff hardware required.

  3. Operator will cover SMT machines for co-workers during all breaks, identify and resolve all bottlenecks.

  4. Must have basic computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel), math skills of addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and converting whole numbers into fractions.

  5. Must be able to use hand tools, machine ruler, caliper, and fixtures.

  6. Operator must possess good troubleshooting skills and mechanical aptitude.

  7. Must be able to work independently from blueprints, prototype prints, and special instructions.

  8. Will be responsible for performing all the necessary duties in order to produce good quality PCB assemblies.

  9. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to: inspection, go/no-go test, build and repair of both through-hole and surface mount PCB assemblies and relieving operators.

  10. Operator will perform setup and preparation of parts (including cutting, masking, gathering Kan Bans, etc.)

  11. Must be able to organize work/schedule from work orders, schedules, blueprints, and other instructions which are written or computer generated to meet Kan Ban and MRP generated requirements.

  12. Maintain overall material inventory for SMT build area, turn in Kan Ban cards, assist in maintaining and organizing material storage areas.

  13. Keep clear and accurate daily production records and data as required.

  14. Must have good communication skills in order to communicate with coworkers, Engineering, Suppliers and Management.

  15. Must be able and willing to initiate problem-solving discussions and work with Engineering or Management to resolve issues.

  16. Operator will train new employees in all job functions.

  17. Operator must follow Safety Rules, ESD guidelines, and keep work cell area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.

  18. The operator shall perform any other duties as assigned.


Position Requirements



  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
