Summary

As an industry leader in infrastructure protection services, USIC operates at a national scale that produces a tremendous amount of operational, human and geo spatial data.  The Data Engineer position plays as a critical role in leveraging our data to drive operational efficiency and compliance, feed ML pipelines, enable force to load plans as well as monetize a nationwide sub-surface geo spatial data product.  This role will be responsible for developing and maintaining the end-to-end cloud-based data warehouse platform, building and maintaining staging, transformation, core modeling, and aggregation data models.  The successful candidate will have a strong background in data modeling, various platforms for data transformation, and strong knowledge of data warehousing platforms who is comfortable working in a fast-paced agile environment.

This position will report to the Senior Director of Data Warehouse & Engineering.

Responsibilities


  • Assembling large, complex sets of data that meet non-functional and functional business requirements

  • Identifying, designing and implementing internal process improvements including re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, optimizing data delivery, and automating manual processes

  • Building required infrastructure for optimal extraction, transformation and loading of data from various data sources using multi-cloud tools and SQL technologies

  • Building analytical tools to utilize the data pipeline, providing actionable insight into key business performance metrics including operational efficiency and customer acquisition

  • Working with stakeholders including data, design, product and executive teams and assisting them with data-related technical issues

  • Working with stakeholders including the Executive, Product, Data and Design teams to support their data infrastructure needs while assisting with data-related technical issues

Requirements


  • 3+ years proven experience on data engineering projects

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology or a related field

  • Ability to build and optimize data sets, ‘big data’ data pipelines and architectures

  • Ability to perform root cause analysis on external and internal processes and data to identify opportunities for improvement and answer questions

  • Excellent analytic skills associated with working on unstructured datasets

  • Ability to build processes that support data transformation, workload management, data structures, dependency and metadata

  • Individual must be comfortable with taking measured risks and be a catalyst for change

  • Excellent skills with MS Office Suite and various data analytical tools
