SUMMARY



The Systems Administrator II administers and supports daily operational requirements of computer network systems including workstation, file servers, and web servers. Duties typically involve the installation of hardware, software, systems upgrades, network accounts, network security, and web page design, interface and updates, and local system design documentation. Maintains, troubleshoots, and implements network security tools including firewalls, anti-virus, and intrusion detection services. Trains staff on software applicable to their position, assists customers with information technology, monitors system configuration (hardware and software), and provides instruction on computers and applications. Technical requirements are applicable across multiple United States Space Command (USSC) and USSC Component Command Locations in the Colorado Springs area.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS



Must possess a Top Secret (TS) clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship.Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access preferred.


Required certifications: A+, NET+


Preferred certifications: Sec+, Cloud+


Requires access to SCI data and spaces and should possess a current SSBI/T5 with ICD 704 eligibility (which replaced DCID 6/4 eligibility).



KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



Essential Duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


Installs hardware and software; conducts system upgrades; maintains network accounts; maintains network security, and updates local system design documentation.


Supports daily operational requirements of computer network systems including workstation, file servers, and web servers.


Maintains, troubleshoots, and implements network security tools including firewalls, anti-virus, and intrusion detection services.


Assists customers with information technology, monitors system configuration (hardware and software), and provides instruction on computers and applications.


Develops, implements, and maintains policies, procedures and training plans for system administration and appropriate use.


Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor's instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.


Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE



Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems or a related discipline, and minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education/experience.



JOB SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES



Networking and installation of operating systems


Installation of servers and installation of operating systems


Cable management and documentation of lab rack assemblies


Maintenance and operation of lab test equipment


Management of lab storage and inventory


Communication to management on Lab issues


Repair and/or modifications to equipment as directed


Organizing and maintaining control of all lab equipment


Monitoring, maintaining, installing, and supporting networked servers, computer systems, and peripheral equipment


Applying Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) to machines and NIWC Pacific lab spaces.


Configuring and executing ACAS scans (Tenable - Assured Computing Assessment Solution)


Configuring and executing security policy via HBSS (Host based security system)


Manage anti-virus solutions


Assist as required with documentation in support of accreditation (RMF - risk management framework)


Patch management solutions and implementation of Operating System patches and firmware.



LANGUAGE SKILLS



Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.



MATHEMATICAL SKILLS



Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.



REASONING ABILITY



Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Work is primarily performed in an office environment. Regularly required to sit. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Exposed to general office noise with computers printers and light traffic.
