The Patient Service Representative - is responsible for coordinating and maintaining a positive customer experience while performing pre-registration, registration, scheduling, and business office functions. Must possess excellent customer service skills. Be able to interact in a friendly, professional manner with a wide range of patients, operations staff, physicians, and other departments within the health system. Attention to detail and the ability to work well under pressure is essential. Also must be able to function effectively in an environment where it is necessary to perform several tasks simultaneously, and where interruptions are frequent.



Appointment Scheduling:





  • Efficiently schedule patient appointments for designated departments using scheduling software tools.

  • Provide clear instructions to patients regarding testing procedures to ensure a seamless experience.


Customer Focus:





  • Assess patients' needs and prioritize their well-being in all decision-making processes.

  • Greet patients professionally, whether face-to-face or over the phone, and respond courteously to their inquiries.

  • Address customer issues promptly and to their satisfaction.




Documentation and Communication:





  • Interview patients and their representatives to obtain accurate demographic, insurance, and claim adjudication information.

  • Update systems accurately, ensuring proper signatures and adherence to authorization guidelines.

  • Communicate effectively with management regarding any issues impacting task completion.




Process Improvement and Compliance:





  • Identify opportunities for process enhancement and communicate recommendations to management.

  • Adhere to departmental policies and stay informed about system changes and insurance regulations.

  • Possess functional knowledge of revenue cycle systems to assist customers efficiently.




Professionalism and Initiative:





  • Display dignity and respect in all interactions.

  • Embrace changes and adapt to daily activities.

  • Act as a positive role model for peers, supporting a team-oriented environment.




Productivity Monitoring:





  • Monitor and report individual productivity to evaluate organizational skills and goal achievement.

  • Ensure proper patient identification and adherence to departmental procedures.




Insurance Accuracy:





  • Verify insurance coverage through online eligibility tools, customer service lines, and other resources.

  • Complete necessary documentation, including Medicare Secondary Questionnaires and medical necessity assessments.




Qualifications:





  • High School Diploma/GED

  • Previous experience in a medical/office setting

  • Skills: attention to detail, punctuality, organization, and resourcefulness
