Description


The Sr Production Engineering role oversees operation of distillation projects, specialty batch projects, and new projects, acts as a technical resource for operations personnel, applies technical skills to optimize plant operations, implements and commissions yield improvement and cost saving projects, participates in procedure reviews and development, operator training, and site qualification efforts.


Essential Functions / Key Accountabilities


As a Sr Production Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading the operation of distillation projects specialty batch projects, and new projects as assigned
• Accountable for asset reliability and availability, unit programmed expenses, unit variable expenses (energy, catalyst), delivering the chemical operations/optimization objectives, product quality, and business improvements for assign projects. Liaison for maintenance and engineering planning and execution for assigned projects.
  • Understanding how equipment associated to the campaign operates and developing and implementing optimization projects.
  • Working with the Operations Manager to provide data and chemical engineering support for specific product campaigns.
  • Working closely with Technical Staff and plant personnel to optimize operations and meet plant goals.
  • Work closely with Quality Assurance personnel to ensure that all product specifications are met.
  • Assist the Engineering Department in developing cost effective projects to optimize production and minimize working capital.
  • Develop procedures for items already in production or to be produced in the future.
  • Preparing and enhancing operating instructions.
  • Troubleshooting plant operations when actual operations does not meet the expected operation.
• Accountable for compliance with all pertinent internal/external regulatory requirements (HSE, Process Safety, Management of Change, Mechanical Integrity, Compliance Reporting, Action Item Closure, etc.).
  • Developing and maintaining campaign specific schedules to meet production demand.
  • Ensuring campaigns are running efficiently by working with plant personnel, technical advisors, and data analysis.
  • Actively participating with operators in the field to help identify process and safety improvements.
  • Communicating technical information and issues at all levels within the organization, when needed
  • Help to optimize the process to minimize or cost effectively dispose of the waste (water and organics) generated in each project.
  • Lead pre-campaign meetings prior start-up to discuss all items related to the project execution.
  • Provide general improvement engineering duties to the plant, assist with scope development and cost estimates.
  • Facilitate or participate in the investigation to determine root cause for all triggering events and determine the necessity of other investigations as needed. Verify all required documentation is obtained and appropriate for all incidents that occur. Ensure that corrective actions are effective for all incidents.
  • Prepare reports that detail and summarize a specific plant effort - Reports include mass balances, process data analysis and de-bottlenecking proposals.
  • Promote a site wide atmosphere of open communications.

Education

  • B.S in Chemical Engineering.

Experience / Required Skills

  • A minimum of 5 (preference for 8+) years' work experience in a plant production engineering role.
  • Prefer experience in a batch or semi-continuous production environment, and experience in a contract manufacturing facility.
  • Must be willing to participate in our 24/7 production facility call out policy, when needed.
  • Ability to function and communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to obtain TWIC Card.
  • Delta V experience is a plus.

  • Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
  • Possible subject to environmental conditions. Activities could occur inside and outside.
  • Subject to extreme heat. Temperatures above 100 for periods of more than one hour.
  • Subject to vibration. Exposure to movements of the extremities or whole body. Operate/drive utility vehicle.
  • Subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
  • Must be able to wear appropriate PPE for tasks as required. FRC uniform, hard hat, safety toe work boots, safety glasses, gloves etc.
