Reporting to the RPED Project Director for the U.S. Department of Education Rural Postsecondary & Economic Development Grant at Alfred State College, the Pathways Coordinator will:

Assist with work related to this 4-year grant designed to increase career exploration, and college preparation opportunities for middle and high school students from rural schools, boost college retention, performance, graduation, and post completion employment for the target population of students from rural secondary school s across the western and southern tier regions of New York. The award period is January 2024- December 2027.

The Community College Pathways Coordinator position is a part-time position, responsibilities include connecting with and visiting WNY Community Colleges to share ASC career pathways and articulation agreements and participation in regional Community College transfer fairs. The Community College Pathways Coordinator will facilitate on-campus visits for community college transfers, and function as an informal advisor to community college transfer students as they transition to Alfred State. The Community College Pathways Coordinator will become familiar with ASC Transfer Credit Equivalency tools and develop the capability of interpreting transfer credit equivalencies to aid students with understanding their pathway to ASC graduation.

Job Requirements:

Associate Degree required; Bachelor's preferred.

  • 2-5 years' experience in K-12 schools or higher education; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Ability to work with rural and at-risk populations.
  • Broad education knowledge including use of effective student success strategies.
  • Preferred: Community College experience
