The Dyslexia Diagnostician implements the special education assessment process, including educational, learning styles, and program needs of students referred to special education services. The incumbent provides diagnostic information and work cooperatively with instructional personnel to provide the most appropriate programs for students with Dyslexia and Related Disorders.

This is a full-time position. Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week is required. Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during workday, typically 9-5 (or 8-4) or as defined by the school.




Essential Functions: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties.


  • Receive student referrals and implement the assessment and evaluation process within required state timelines;

  • Using federal and Texas Education Agency (TEA) regulations, select and administer formal and informal assessments to determine student eligibility for special education services;

  • Work with academic staff to collect and organize student assessment data, and continually evaluate the assessment program, making changes based on findings;

  • Conduct classroom observations and student interviews;

  • Coordinate and participates in the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee to assist with interpretation of assessment data, appropriate placement for students, and develop Individual Education Plans (IEP) according to district procedures;

  • Assist classroom teachers with implementation of student IEPs;

  • Partner with parents concerning the educational needs of students and sharing of assessment data;

  • Partner with academic team to enhance work with students;

  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with students and parents;

  • Provide staff development training in assigned schools to assist academic team in identification and understanding of students with Dyslexia and Related disorders;

  • Provide expertise in the selection of assessment materials and equipment;

  • Comply with all federal, district, and school regulations and policies; Maintain all reports, records, and other documents required;

  • Supports in-person testing and attends mandatory professional development.




Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities.



MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Master's degree AND Two (3) years of teaching experience OR Equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Certificates and Licenses: Valid Texas Teacher Certification AND Texas Educational Diagnostician Certifications




Residency Requirement:Applicant must be a Texas resident



OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Proficient in software and systems associated with curriculum and special education including Frontline

  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time to support testing and for training

  • Proficiency in Microsoft (Excel, Word, and Outlook)

  • Ability to clear required background check




DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Two (2) years of Dyslexia instruction experience
