Position Summary:
The building maintenance assistant II performs semi-skilled general maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment within McNair Hall for the Jones Graduate School of Business under the direction of the building maintenance supervisor and/or the senior director of building operations. This position coordinates and prioritizes daily work order requests with the supervisor and works independently to troubleshoot and diagnose assigned requests to determine the correct course of action. Performs and completes work order requests in basic painting, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry. Works with craft specific technicians from across campus or vendors as needed.
The ideal candidate will have Rice University experience or external experience that can easily translate to the workload and skill level for maintaining a large multi-use building.
Workplace Requirements
This position is physical in nature, requiring the ability to lift up to 25 lbs., climb ladders, bend, kneel, raise arms above head and carry out repetitive motions among other abilities.
On campus position: This position is exclusively on-site, necessitating all duties to be performed in-person at McNair Hall during the scheduled shift agreed to by the supervisor and director. Per Rice policy 440 , work arrangements may be subject to change.
Hourly Hiring Range : $20.43 to $22.00
