Job Details:

Mercer University is searching for a Director of Communications and Events for the McAfee School of Theology on the Atlanta, Georgia campus.


Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Dean, the Director of Communication and Outreach will be will be responsible for developing, managing, and executing strategic communication and outreach initiatives. This role involves enhancing the seminary's visibility, fostering community relationships, and supporting enrollment growth. The ideal candidate will have a passion for theological education, excellent communication skills, and a proven track record in public relations, marketing, and community engagement.

Additionally, this position will encourage innovative ideas for communication to stakeholders, including congregations and denominational networks. This position may require work at times other than the normal working hours for recruiting travel, alumni events, McAfee Lectureships events, or other projects as assigned. The Director must use good judgement regarding the allocation of resources.

Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university and three years of related experience, which must include working with students and/or alumni, are required. Candidates must also have experience working with web design. Candidates with a master's degree , M.Div., and/or prior experience working in higher education are highly desirable.

Candidates must have a valid driver's license and be insurable by the university's carrier.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Proficient website development skills to assist in managing website and social media platforms.

  • Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills for communication and outreach efforts, which includes supporting alumni constituents.

  • Ability to plan and implement events for outreach efforts.

  • Must possess good social skills, as a large part of this job is to meet/establish and maintain good relationships.

  • Ability to communicate with recommenders, churches, and other constituencies to grow the enrollment at McAfee.
