SALARY RANGES:


Portland, Oregon; $122,699.00 to $153,374.00


Orange, CT: $134,968.00 to $168,711.00


Boston, MA: $141,104.00 to $176,380.00


Work Model: Remote


The Director, Quality Control is responsible for leading and coordinating the quality control effort for Avangrid Renewables Onshore Project Delivery Team. The scope of responsibility includes continuous development and management of Avangrid's quality program and its implementation to ensure the quality construction of onshore construction projects.



Key Responsibilities



  • Coordinate with Avangrid Project Delivery team members, contractors, and suppliers to provide Avangrid Operations with high quality projects and documentation.

  • Provide oversight, guidance, and direction to the Project Delivery's Project Management and Construction teams regarding establishing and maintaining Project quality documentation, construction, testing, commissioning, and turnover to operations.

  • Effectively and proactively coordinate and communicate with internal Avangrid teams in its digital optimization process.

  • Continuous development of our quality programs, procedures, plans, and forms to establish and implement an effective quality control program.

  • Review RFI's and provide detailed feedback to the Project Team.

  • Review NCR's and provide detailed feedback to the Project Team

  • Provide direction and support to onsite Construction Quality Inspectors

  • Run weekly meetings with construction teams and quality staff.

  • Coordinate Project Documentation and Turnover to Avangrid Operations

  • Participate actively in weekly and monthly meetings.

  • Review and comment on Contractors quality program and ensure it follows Avangrid specifications/processes.

  • Ensure the consolidation of the management system while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Plan, oversee and participate in audits, analysing results to identify deviations and opportunities for improvement.

  • Prepare comprehensive quality project reports for senior management and various internal and external stakeholders.



Additional Responsibilities



  • Expert knowledge of various aspects of Quality Assurance/Quality Control such as document control, inspection plans and procedures, nonconformance reporting, corrective action, root cause analysis

  • Basic knowledge of renewable projects such as wind turbine specifications, concrete foundations, civil construction, solar modules and inverters, battery systems, collector system, overhead collection, transmission, and substation equipment.

  • Working knowledge of consulting services and EPC construction contracts.

  • Expert ability to understand renewable energy projects technical documentation such as design drawings, facilities studies, permitting documents, local codes and regulations, civil and electrical construction specifications.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on continuous improvement activities and lesson's learned.



  • Lead and coordinate quality projects in partnership with Directors / Managers and Subject Matter Experts from other business areas.



  • Excellent influencing and communication skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Visio, Procore, Aconex, and AutoCad a plus.

  • Ability to travel frequently (50% +/-) to projects




Required Qualifications



  • Engineering degree, preferably with a P.E. certification or equivalent experience

  • 10+ years of experience in a leadership role and management experience.

  • 10+ years of experience in quality control and inspection, preferably in renewable energy

  • 5+ years of experience interfacing with engineers, contractors, suppliers

  • Experience in managing the quality control function on large construction projects.

  • Certification in ISO Quality or Project Management



  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).




Preferred Qualifications



  • Knowledge of written and/or conversational Spanish.
