We are seeking an experienced Accountant who is well-versed in GAAP principles and possesses strong skills in financial software, particularly Excel, Sage Intacct, and Financial Edge. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of accounting fundamentals such as debits/credits and financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
Knowledge of GAAP and Debits/Credits: Demonstrate a solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and proficiency in handling debits and credits.
Proficiency in Financial Software: Utilize Excel, Sage Intacct, and Financial Edge to maintain financial records, analyze data, and generate reports. Experience with these platforms is preferred.
Understanding of Grants and Restricted Funds: Manage a diverse portfolio of 300+ private grants, including construction, operating, and temporarily restricted funds. Experience with fund accounting and grant management is advantageous.
Reconciliation of Grant Portfolio: Prepare thorough reconciliations of the grant portfolio to ensure accuracy and compliance in preparation for audits and year-end reporting, particularly by June 30th.
Audit Preparation and Oversight: Facilitate audits by ensuring the smooth transition from Financial Edge to Sage Intacct and conducting audits to verify data integrity and accuracy.
Independent and Proactive Work Ethic: Thrive in a role that requires self-sufficiency and minimal supervision. Be prepared to tackle tasks independently with a hands-on approach.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in accounting roles.
Experience in managing complex grant portfolios and fund accounting.
Strong proficiency in Excel and familiarity with Sage Intacct and Financial Edge (preferred).
Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines effectively.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
