Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM) is hiring for a Systems Administrator II within the IT Operations Center team.

About the Role


In this Systems Administrator II opportunity, responsibilities will include:

  • Utilizing IBM CA-7 (Mainframe Job Scheduling application) and CA-11 (Automated Rerun and Tracking system) - Create, update, review jobs and schedules.
  • Approve Endevor Packages. Run impact analysis forecasts.
  • Add new jobs, create job flowcharts, PERM datasets, add dependencies, setup mutually exclusives, create job triggers, Add DSNs to CA7 for dataset, resolving schedule, CLIST, update date cards, #JI, setting up holiday processing.
  • Participate in business recovery testing, processing exception plans, update JCL overrides for future runs. History runs.

Please Note:

  • Role occasionally may require working nights and/or weekend Nights for upgrades or testing software we support. The team rotates being 'on-call' across members of the team.

  • Hybrid work structure, which requires working minimum 1-day per week on-site at our downtown Detroit office (we provide free parking that is within covered structure connected directly to our building).

Departmental Preferences (skills/experience, etc.)

  • Ability to review JES logs, open close initiator, process SDSF job information.
  • Expert in JCL, PROCs, Programs, EXEC, JOB, DD statements, procedures, sort, conditional processing.
  • Ability to Generate and insert Certificates into ACF2 for SFTP and Connect Direct file transfers.
  • ACF2 Certificate knowledge is also a big plus.


Additional aspects/functions of the role may include:

Provide support for operating systems, networks, information security, storage systems and tape library as defined by departmental requirements. Maintain and monitor the infrastructure environment. Deploy the release of new technologies as well as design, install, configure, maintain and perform testing of operating systems, networks, and related utilities and hardware. Diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software and connectivity programs. Coordinate and work on multiple cross-functional base work initiatives and projects. Support multiple systems or applications of medium to high complexity.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.

  • Three (3) years of relevant information technology, security, network, or database management work experience required.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with multiple system environments, servers, storage devices, information security, or networks/telecommunications required.
  • Analytical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently, or within a team environment.
  • Written and verbal communication skills interpersonal skills.
  • Data gathering and reporting skills.
  • The ability to be flexible and adapt easily to changes.
  • Other related skills and/or abilities may be required to perform this job.
