Position Purpose:

Produces high quality video and other media projects from inception to distribution for a variety of institutional uses. Projects range from event, conferences and events recording and livestreaming, to more complex production of documentary, educational or promotional media.


Required Qualifications - Education and Yrs Exp:

Bachelors plus 3-5 years' experience or equivalent combination of education and experience


Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

Expert command of shooting video with digital cinema cameras, competent in visual composition, on-location lighting styles and solid operating skills with a variety of audio and video field recording equipment. Experience in field recording and editing of audio. Must be able to edit video into coherent, innovative and effective sequences and programs. Preferred editing platforms are Premier Pro and Davinci Resolve. Familiarity with live video streaming and captioning software and hardware to deliver programing to a variety of platforms.


Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in studio multi-camera production. Graphic design experience a plus. Certified drone operator is a plus.

Description:


Production Work
Plans, organizes, and produces video and other media projects for a variety of institutional uses. Projects can range from event videography and documentation of lectures, conferences and events, or can encompass complex media production for documentary, educational or promotional purposes. Manages and organizes media projects which may involve multiple production dates and styles, travel, and hiring and managing freelance artists. Confers with, guides and assists clients regarding project concepts, objectives, creative approaches (e.g., shooting style and lighting considerations), content, and presentation approaches. Develops budget estimates for media projects. Serves as coordinator of equipment and labor resources for events/projects such as visiting dignitaries and Commencement Exercises. Is a resource for expert operation of camera and editing equipment. Works closely with other producers within the Office of Communications to deliver high-quality videos on-time. Works with clients to publish completed videos to a variety of online and social media platforms. This often involves live streaming of institutional events.

Description:


Administration and Communication

Trains and supervises student assistants within the video production section. Schedules events and projects. Prepares and presents budget estimates and provides accounting of time and resource allocation on a per project basis Reports equipment problems and failures and assists in the preventative maintenance program and with the installation, modification and repair of equipment and systems. Maintains library and database of video and audio resources. Develops understanding of similarities and differences in diverse cultures through employee education programs.

Consultant to the Dartmouth Community

Serves as technical expert to the Dartmouth community in the area of video and audio production regarding format, equipment choice and applicability, cost and budget recommendations, outside vendor or service source recommendations and advice on production techniques and distribution of finished media. Maintains knowledge of technological developments in the field of media production. With the other staff manages and maintains a fleet of production gear.
