Job Summary:



Leads and controls senior, junior employees engaged in all activities related to production processes. Ensures efficient and timely completion of jobs, ensuring a quality product is shipped on time. The Paint Lead will powder metal weldments and assemblies. The Paint Lead will use drawings, specs and/or verbal instructions as well as exercising judgment and experience to plan and accomplish goals. Based on instructions/information given, the Paint Lead will powder fabricated products as well as cut steel using industrial powder coating equipment. The Paint Lead must have the ability to check his/her own work. They must meet production deadlines, be flexible, dependable, time conscious and be able to move from project to project with minimal supervision. The Paint Lead must work closely with shop management.



Responsibilities:



  • Powder coat exterior and interior to achieve required mill spec.

  • Performs maintenance on the powder coat equipment.

  • Performs preventative maintenance.

  • Observe machine gauges and equipment operation to detect defects.

  • Assists in preparation of material for transport.

  • Works under minimal supervision.

  • Works on assignments with continuous guidance and set of detailed instructions.

  • Follows standard practices and procedures where answers can be readily obtained.

  • Contacts are primarily with immediate supervisor and others in group.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

  • Load and unload parts onto conveyor.

  • The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and airborne particles.

  • The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places and vibration.

  • Prepares parts in preparation for paint

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

  • The ability to teach new employees.

  • The ability to lead/supervisor employees to produce a quality finished product.

  • Creating, Updating, and Implementing standard of work.

  • Provides continuous improvement while utilizing our 5S procedures and following process.

  • Ability to communicate effectively across all departments




Education and Experience:



  • Two years of powder coating experience

  • Attention to detail, self-starter.

  • Ability to read and use a tape measure.

  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication, and organizational skills.

  • Demonstrated commitment to safety.

  • Positive attitude with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.

  • Previous leadership experience preferred




Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:



  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Must pass pre-employment and random drug screen

  • High school diploma or GED
