Job Overview

The Sales Development Trainer is responsible for ensuring that the Customer Experience Community (Salespeople (both inside/outside), Customer Service (CSRs) and Account Management) are prepared to support the needs of our customers and emphasize Myer's Value Proposition. The SGT will also be responsible providing products and service training to incumbent employees across the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities


  • Work in conjunction with the training director to create sales and customer support enablement tools and platforms
  • Develop and document the following for sales readiness training:

    • Best Practices (Go to Market and Customer Service)
    • Checklists
    • Guidelines
    • Processes
  • Recommend new training methods and content (including e-learning courses and game-based platforms)

  • Support Sales Best Practice discipline and Sales Excellence
  • Collaborate with product management team to identify the best ways to launch new products and services
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with employees across the organization
  • Support onboarding for all new hire employees
  • Become expert in the training and utilization of Salesforce
  • Ride along on account sales calls to observe approach and interaction with customers
  • Coach new reps on how to recognize new sales opportunities, coaches and offers tips learned through industry experience
  • Develops and presents established and effective sales training methods, techniques, and ideas including how to develop prospective clients, customer lists and sales call itineraries
  • Reports on progress of sales trainees and personnel under guidance during training period
  • Assists in developing new training courses associated with the introduction of new products or services
  • All other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in business or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a salesperson / or 5 years in a field training role

Working Conditions

  • Customer locations
  • Office environment (meeting and conference rooms)
  • Expert at virtual environments
  • Travel up to 80%

Physical Requirements


  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds without assistance
  • Ability to travel via various modes of transport

Intellectual Requirements


  • In-depth understanding of traditional and modern training methods (including workshops, simulations, e-learning and coaching)
  • Experience organizing or conducting training activities
  • Understanding of Learning Management Systems (LMS)
  • Understanding of Customer Relationship Management Systems (CRM)
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • BS or BA preferred
