Are you a creative person with the capacity to help and empower others to learn, grow and thrive? Do you have experience in the art of photography and the skills necessary to teach it? Kalamazoo Valley Community College is currently seeking a part-time instructor for the fall semester of 2024 with skills in introductory levels of digital based photography. The course being taught will familiarize students with basic photographic principles. Students taking this class will not need to possess any previous photographic experience. Included in the course will be light metering, natural light control, focus, depth of field, and f-stop and shutter speed adjustments. When the camera controls are learned, basic computer applications (Photoshop/Lightroom) will be explored. Lectures, discussions, group critiques, field trips, and exhibition viewing may also be included.


By the end of the course, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate proficiency with the technical aspect of photographing with a digital camera.
- Compose successful images with a digital camera.
- Know specific facts regarding historic and contemporary trends of photography.
- Analyze when to apply the computer to enhance a digital photograph.
- Discern how and when to use proper tools used by professional photographers.

MA or MFA degree in art with demonstrated photography experience.
