Job Title:Research TechnicianDepartment:Arts and Sciences | Microbiology Administration

The candidate will contribute to projects related to microbial natural product drug discovery and understanding the biological pathways that direct their synthesis. Under guidance from the PI, the candidate may conduct experiments including cultivation of microbial strains, basic molecular biology, or metabolite analysis and isolation. The candidate will also provide timely summaries of results and contribute to general upkeep of the laboratory.



Required: Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biological Sciences, or related field. One year of relevant experience.



Desired: Individuals with a minimum of 6 months working experience in an academic lab or equivalent (not counting classroom experience) engaged in microbiology, biochemistry, or chemistry research. Demonstrated mastery of general laboratory techniques in one more area such as molecular biology, microbiology, or analytical chemistry.

The Department of Microbiology, within the College of Arts and Sciences, seeks a Research Technician to join the laboratory of Dr. Kou-San Ju. We are an interdisciplinary research group that studies the biological chemistry of microorganisms. The College of Arts and Sciences is the largest college and the academic heart of the university.
