Meritus Health and the proposed Meritus School of Osteopathic Medicine (MSOM) in Hagerstown, Maryland is seeking a highly motivated individual to become our Admissions Officer.

Meritus Health is officially seeking accreditation and licensure to open a proposed four-year osteopathic medical school in Hagerstown.

The Admissions Officer role:


  • Provides analytical support for the osteopathic medical school admissions office to ensure efficient workflow for application reviews, operations, and activities under the guidance of the Director of Academic Admissions.

  • Assesses admissions applications and transcripts according to eligibility requirements. Exercises discretion and applies informed independent judgment. Maintains records and assists in the maintenance and assignment of electronic admission files. Evaluates admissions procedures and operations for continual process improvement. Manages data collection and entry, analysis, and data base maintenance through the admissions application management software (AMP), centralized application (AACOMAS), primary application software (WebAdMIT), and customer relationship management (CRM). Enters decision codes and creates reports and work assignments while managing the technology platforms. Prepares reports, provides analyses, and assists with program evaluations. Supports the admissions committee as needed. Coordinates and schedules interviews for applicants and interviewers. Responds to inquiries from prospective students and provides advising to students and families on admissions requirements, policies and procedures, and related issues. Supports marketing and communication efforts to increase admissions yield. Assists with planning student programming and events to support recruitment efforts. Assists in maintaining department accounts and ensuring budget compliance.


Qualified applicants should have:

Education - Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or other relevant major

Experience - Higher education admissions and/or recruitment experience needed

Minimum of 3 years of experience in higher ed admissions recruitment, admissions, or experience directly related to essential responsibilities.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities - Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, gather data, compile and prepare reports, communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, possess strong organizational skills, skilled in the use of computerized systems and databases, and knowledge of university admission policies, standards, and procedures. Must have the ability to lift 25 pounds.
