POSITION SUMMARY:



Reporting to the Corporate Accountant Manager, the Senior Accountant oversees accounting procedures and manages financial reporting and compliance activities. The Senior Accountant's responsibilities include general ledger accountability, financial reporting, monthly and quarterly balance sheet and income statement analysis, banking activities, preparation of journal entries and reconciliations for the monthly general ledger close and other special projects as assigned.


We are seeking a well-organized, proactive and self-motivated Senior Accountant to add to our team in the Accounting Department. This individual should be a team player, self-starter with the ability to multi-task and able to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.



Job Responsibilities include the following, but not limited to:




  • Responsible for analyzing assigned general ledger accounts on a daily/weekly/monthly basis and reporting on variances, as well as identifying cost savings opportunities.

  • Prepare/maintain bank reconciliations and other account reconciliations, including prepaid and accrual schedules.

  • Participate in monthly general ledger close procedures for several companies.

  • Prepare monthly general journal entries and provide accounting and analytical support to Management during the month end close process.

  • Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities.

  • Manage, reconcile and maintain intercompany balance between several companies.

  • Prepare schedules and analyses in support of quarterly reviews and annual audits.

  • Assist in documentation and monitoring of internal controls.

  • Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accounting policies and procedures.

  • Additional duties as assigned.




Required Qualifications and Skills:





  • Must have a Bachelor of Science in Accounting degree from an accredited university.

  • MBA or CPA certification is a plus.

  • Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

  • Must have at least 4 years of current general accounting experience.

  • Intermediate to advanced experience with MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook.

  • Strong analytical and accounting skills.

  • Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment.

  • Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team and take on new tasks with high level of difficulty.

  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment. Must be a self-starter.

  • Bilingual English-Spanish desired, but not necessary.




Supervisory Responsibilities:



This position will not have direct reports but may require providing training for new team members.



Language Skills:



The employee must possess strong interpersonal and communications skills, be able to effectively present information, respond to questions from managers and co-workers.



Physical Activities and Requirements of the Position:



This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms; move about the facility. Some light physical effort required. Must be able to work well under pressure. This position may require limited traveling.
