Medline Industries has an immediate opening for a Tax Analyst in the Finance division! This position will be based out of our Northfield, IL headquarters and will offer a hybrid model of work. The Tax Analyst will under general direction, responsible for the preparation of tax related projects and returns associated with the maintenance and submission of U.S. federal, state & local and international taxation. Prepare specifically assigned tax returns and related reports. 


  • Analyze financial data and prepare transaction tax (sales/use, business & occupation, gross receipts, and/or value added tax) returns for monthly, quarterly and annual filings; researching transaction tax issues; interpreting and complying with state, local and international statutes, regulations and legislation.


  • Provide written and oral guidance based on research of transaction tax laws and regulations. Monitor state tax rulings, cases, legislation and periodicals that impact the company in order to maintain a tax awareness and ability to identify potential tax issues, tax exposures, tax compliance problem areas and tax planning and savings opportunities.


  • Collaborate with Sales representatives and customers to determine if sales and use tax exemptions apply to specific customers and products, continuously researching and updating Medline’s Sales and Use Tax Decision Matrix;


  • Identify legislation that materially impacts the company and effectively communicate this information to the organization. Prepare for and assists with transaction tax audits. Assist with the reconciliation of transaction tax general ledger accounts. Identify, develop and implement process improvements. Work with IT to develop best practice processes for generating data support for tax audits.


  • Perform or coordinate day-to-day activities to meet departmental objectives using allocated resources; demonstrate mastery in taxation and generalist knowledge of finance.


Qualifications - External
Education 

Bachelor's degree in Accounting. 

Additional

Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Excel (for example: using SUM function, setting borders, setting column width, inserting charts, using text wrap, sorting, setting headers and footers and/or print scaling).
Knowledge of sales and use tax.

Preferred Qualifications

Education 

CPA 
Masters degree in taxation or LLM.
