As a Staff Accountant at Everlaw, you'll bring your GL accounting experience and keen attention to detail to a variety of tasks, including reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end reporting. You'll play a critical role in the month-end close process, applying your operational accounting expertise and technical knowledge to enhance and scale our accounting processes. You'll set your own bar, expanding your accounting skills while directly contributing to our team's success and contribute meaningfully to building a company that promotes justice by illuminating truth. You'll report to the Senior Accounting Manager and work closely with a supportive team.

This is a full-time exempt position based in our Oakland, California office with a hybrid work schedule: in office M/W/Th with the option to work from home Tu/Fr.

In your role, you'll...
Perform monthly close tasks, including but not limited to - accruals, depreciation & amortization journals, payroll GL entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and flux commentary.
Own the fixed asset schedule, ensuring proper recording of purchases and disposals, and maintaining depreciation schedules.
Assist with cash application and reconciliation on a regular basis.
Collaborate closely with other departments to ensure completeness and accuracy of accruals and contingent liabilities.
Contribute to team-wide initiatives around process improvement, automation, and efficiency gains to support the timely delivery of accurate financials.
About you
You have at least 3 years of experience in an accounting role, which has strengthened your organization and attention to detail.
You are confident in articulating a basic knowledge of GAAP.
You are very organized and excel at handling multiple responsibilities at the same time, thriving at meeting deadlines and solving problems in a fast-paced environment.
You utilize your prioritization and execution skills to meet month end close deadlines while maintaining a process driven work environment.
You are authorized to work in the United States; please note that at this time, Everlaw is not sponsoring visas for any positions.
Pluses
You have experience in Google sheets and Microsoft Excel.
You have experience working in a fast-growing startup environment.
You have a CPA license, or are actively working towards one.
Benefits
The expected hourly rate range for this role is between $40.87 - $55.29. The final offered hourly rate will be dependent upon many factors including the candidate's experience and skills. The base pay range is subject to change in the future.
