Baer is looking for an SAP Data Consultant for a 12+ month Federal project located in Norfolk, VA.
Title: SAP Data Consultant Location: Hybrid - Norfolk, VA Duration: 12+ months Rate: Hourly Plus Travel Expenses Reimbursed Alignment: W2 or C2C (Vendors Not Permitted)
Project Overview:
Our client is currently working with a major branch of the DoD to continue modernization of their critical Financial and Procurement systems. Specifically, the program is tasked with moving various client operations onto a single instance SAP ERP platform across standard reporting, Budgeting, GL, and related feeder systems. This is a multi-year program encompassing large scale teams working on SAP ERP Requirements Definition, Legacy System Transition to SAP, Training & Change Management, and Sustainment Support. The SAP solution scope includes DoD specific processes aligned with SAP ECC solution components across FI, CO, FM, PS, AM, WFM, MM/IM, WM, SD.
Our client is looking for numerous SAP Data Consultants from Junior level to SME who can assist the command with Mock Cutover activities for the ongoing data migration. This is a client facing role that requires a hybrid yet flexible on-site schedule. Consultants will assist in System Development, Data Conversion, and Data Validation while working closely with government staff to ensure a smooth transition and solid understanding of the new ERP system. This position requires regular travel to work on-site in Norfolk, VA. Travel expenses will be reimbursed by the government.
Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and execute a viable system migration for a full transition of open items, reconcilable to legacy system trial balances and departmental reporting.
Extract legacy data from SABRS/SMARTS to a platform based on data conversion criteria. Analyze data conformance to client ERP formats and document findings.
Perform pre-migration data cleansing with a focus on financial systems, recommending and documenting cleansing activities, assessing migration population for KPI issues, and providing guidance on cleansing actions.
Conduct pre-migration data validation and methodology review, documenting system migration methodologies and providing financial impact guidance.
Analyze legacy data for conformance to client ERP business rules, verifying consistency, accuracy, and completeness using Government-provided data analytics tools.
Supplement fit/gap analysis for process and system interface changes to define requirements/functional/technical gaps.
Evaluate legacy systems and data to ensure all interfaces and data flows are identified for 'to be' business plans.
Produce data health analysis, including KPI reports and DARQ.
Develop and report data management and cleansing metrics to leadership.
Provide data cleansing KPI metrics and strategies, reporting progress bi-weekly to migrating BSOs.
Identify and resolve root causes of poor data quality and develop corrective action plans for data health issues.
Execute legacy-to-target data mappings by object/type, integrating with functional experts to complete local BSO master data requirements.
Develop the Data Conversion Plan and participating in data gathering workshops and providing feedback.
Document in-scope data objects for Client ERP conversion, updating based on test outcomes and migration activities.
Recommend data standardization within DCP and document deviations.
Complete and update data mapping templates throughout conversion processes, finalizing during Cutover Practice.
Document Legacy-to-Target data mappings and post to Data Staging Area (DSA).
Extract master and transactional data from source systems, monitoring/track data loads.
Develop tools on Government-provided platforms for validation checks on source data, identifying issues and recommending resolutions.
Submit data files by the established timeline.
Provide SAP BODS pre-load validation recommendations.
Assist BSOs in final validation of load-ready files and pre-load validations, resolving and tracking errors.
Execute pre-Cutover activities for data management/DSA Loads.
Conduct final review of migrated data to validate successful migration from accounting and functional standpoints.
Assist BSOs with financial statement validations, resolving and tracking migration errors.
Research variances, identify root causes, and provide mitigation strategies.
Support BSOs in developing corrective actions for data health issues.
Qualifications:
Active Secret Clearance Required
DoD experience required; Navy/Army experience preferred.
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or related field.
Extensive experience in SAP data migration, data cleansing, and data mapping.
Strong understanding of DoD ERP data formats and business processes.
Proficiency in data analytics tools, such as ADVANA/Jupiter platform.
Experience with SAP Business Objects Data Services (BODS) and other data transformation tools.
