Role description:

The purpose of this role is to:


  • Lead the activity towards the 'right people at the right time in the right place' to deliver short- and long-term business plans and strategy. Balancing business financial targets (billability and multiplier), People First decisions, and Client experience.
  • Plan in the long term, 6 months - to 2 years, the appropriate capability resource requirements as part of a whole workforce management strategy (including Resource Management, GEC, Contingent Workforce, and Talent Acquisition).
  • Support the Strategic Workforce Planning vision of resource agility - bringing the benefits for our clients, our business, and our people.
  • Use a data-focused approach to forecasting and business intelligence.

Report to: US Places Operations Director, Dotted line to the GBA Places Workforce Planning Director

This job can be performed in any Arcadis US office

Role accountabilities:

Stakeholder Management & Business Partnering


  • Stakeholder Management: Foster collaborative relationships with key stakeholders in the business to build an understanding of business needs in the short and long term.

    • GBA Places Workforce Planning Director
    • Other Workforce Planning Managers
    • Business Unit Leaders
    • BA Director to build an understanding of immediate focus areas and longer-term strategic goals
    • Strategic Pursuits Team
    • People Business Partners, Finance, and TA

  • Continuous Improvement and Innovation: Working with key stakeholders and others in the SWP practice area to identify and build towards best practices and continue to evolve our approach to SWP.
  • Knowledge sharing: Active participation & support to work across global RP initiatives

Resource optimization & planning

  • Planning: Provide insight on skills and capabilities required and contribute to short-, medium-, and long-term business plans, adding value through strategic resourcing decisions and developing the understanding of the business into action plans and focus areas for RP and SWP.
  • One Team: provide inclusive leadership within the SWP domain. Integrated engagement with GECs
  • Resource Optimisation: Implement resource levelling across business lines by monitoring supply and demand

Business Intelligence & Reporting

  • Data: Collection & cleansing of data from multiple sources to ensure data integrity
  • Insights: Provide insights around skills/grade mix to achieve optimal size/shape of the team, taking into account L&D needs, skills gaps, and recruitment plans over the next 12 months
  • Scenario Planning: Work closely with Business Unit Directors on workload trends and review the impact of pipelines on the ability to deliver, promoting work sharing and internal mobility.

Required experience

  • Significant experience in resource management and workforce planning
  • Prior experience developed in role where business partnering was key to success
  • Experience as trusted advisor to senior leadership team
  • Experience in managing complex issues

  • Confident communicator - used to dealing with people at all levels, in particular, at senior level

  • Bachelor's degree with significant experience in resource management and workforce planning
  • Strong leadership skills with a keen eye for detail and a high level of data accuracy
  • A blend of people, data, and operational skill sets, collaborative with peers, confident and self-aware with senior audiences
  • Able to build relationships based on mutual trust and confidence, able to manage change effectively

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree

We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $97,600 - $112,240. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project, and location.
