Position Mission:
The Senior Accountant works with the Consolidations Manager, and other members of the NAPA HQ accounting team, on month-end and year-end close processes, account reconciliations, general ledger adjustments and various special projects as needed.
Position Performance Measures:
Timely completion of tasks (maintaining/meeting deadlines on a daily/monthly and ad hoc basis, ability to multi-task and shift priorities as needed)
Quality of tasks (detail oriented and accuracy - lacking errors and providing meaningful documentation to support entries and/or position when decisions are made)
Independence (ability to work independently and exhibit critical thinking and problem solving skills when presented with a new task)
Good communication (ability to effectively communicate with multiple levels of management)
Responsibilities:
Participate in the month-end close process, including the preparation and/or review of journal entries, account reconciliations, variance explanations and other financial information and supporting schedules.
Review of intercompany transactions and preparation of elimination entries for monthly financial consolidation
Perform technical research on complex accounting areas including but not limited to; business combinations (ASC 805), revenue recognition (ASC 606), vendor consideration (ASC 705) to determine appropriate accounting treatment for new transactions.
Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation, explanations, and support.
Analyze financial data and trends to identify variances, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement.
Act as the subject matter expert for assigned areas of responsibility and interact with all levels of management regarding issues related to these specific areas.
Continuous process standardization, improvement, and streamlining

Experience, Education, and Abilities:
Experience Requirements
Requirements include but may not be limited to the following:
Bachelor's Degree in accounting
CPA Preferred
Basic knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures as relates to general ledger accounting
PeopleSoft experience preferred
Strong analytical skills
Problem solving abilities
Detail oriented
