Location: Beaverton, Oregon
The successful candidate will join an active research team focusing on clinically-relevant strategies for the treatment of premature birth and perinatal brain injury at the Oregon National Primate Research Center of OHSU. This position will support ongoing pre-clinical studies exploring perinatal physiology using macaque models of human disease. The successful candidate will be expected to develop skills relates to working directly with non-human primates and post-mortem collection of samples, in addition to standard laboratory procedures and techniques such as blood and sample processing, tissue histology and flow cytometry, data entry, statistical analysis of data, and reporting of research findings in written and oral formats. The successful candidate will contribute to general lab support duties, including scheduling of experiments, maintenance of laboratory supplies and equipment, lab organization and inventories, autoclaving, and disposal of waste. Normal work schedule has some flexibility but is routinely Monday through Friday (9am-5pm).The position includes occasional early mornings, evenings, weekend, holiday or overnight work as required by the scope of the NHP studies.
