Job Description:

Serving as a partner to global business leaders, this role directs and oversees high level strategic and tactical decisions for business intelligence tools and applications. The Director of Global Data and Analytics will play a pivotal role in driving actionable insights and strategic decisions through data analysis and visualization.


The owner of this role will guide a team in the development of analytical solutions that translate business needs into sustainable and high-quality deliverables. This includes understanding our internal and external customer needs for data and metrics.


This person will be the in-house data expert, comfortable working with data and business processes to enable business opportunities and enhance the member and customer experience. They will define what first-class data quality and management looks like at Merz Ax and will work to embed best practices within the organization.


Responsibilities 




  • Analytics and Visualization:



    • Perform data discovery, scrutinizing the accuracy of the data, and stage for optimal consumption and performance in visualizations.

    • Assist in feasibility assessments and timing expectations of new visualization requests.

    • Design and develop creative data visualizations that meet the business needs and are readily understandable to end users.

    • Execute according to prioritization of Enterprise Intelligence Road Map.




  • Data & Warehousing:



    • Establish automated processes for data delivery and data validation, ensuring reconciliation between source and destination.

    • Collaborating across teams, augment the enterprise data warehouse with those data elements necessary to achieve key objectives.

    • Work with IT counterparts and team members to design, build, validate, and maintain data solutions for an enterprise data warehouse.




  • Data Governance: 



    • Leadership over data governance, data quality and master data management initiatives.

    • Maintain objective data quality metrics and manage stewardship membership.




  • Team Leadership:



    • Develop team members into a knowledgeable and highly qualified Business Intelligence team capable of timely completion ensuring adherence to all standards/processes.

    • Articulate a clear and compelling vision aligned with the global cultural tenets and strategic objectives of the company.

    • Clearly define roles and responsibilities while holding members accountable for their performance.

    • Develop talent and skills of individual team members.

    • Empower leaders and employees to make informed decisions, enabling autonomy while providing guidance and support.




  • Communication:



    • Provide clear and visible communication to all stakeholders.

    • Present written recommendations, requirements, and insights to senior leaders and stakeholders, facilitating prioritization and influencing the global roadmap.

    • High facilitation and collaboration skills




Technical & Functional Skills:



  • Ability to work cohesively across departments, building consensus and producing results.


  • Expert project management skills and experience executing projects in a flat-organized team environment.

  • Strong critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex datasets and derive actionable insights.

  • Ability to manage multiple, concurrent projects to timely completion without compromising quality or scope of deliverable.

  • Experience with software development life cycle.

  • Strong organizational and leadership abilities, with a track record of successfully leading data-driven initiatives.

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word and comfort with large variety of online meeting tools.

  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Demonstrated history of teamwork and cross functional collaboration.

  • Servant leadership mindset at all levels.

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, finance, economics, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.

  • 3+ years’ leadership experience in managing a team and/or function preferred.

  • Min 7 years of experience and in-depth working knowledge of SQL, manipulating and understanding large, complex data sets.

  • Min 2-3 years of Experience and in-depth working knowledge of relational databases and modeling including ERDs, normalization and de-normalization (star schema).

  • Familiar with tools such as Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, or MicroStrategy.


Preferred Qualifications: 



  • Knowledge of SAP, Salesforce and other critical platforms.
