The Associate VP of Principal Gifts (AVP) will provide support to Lehigh University's comprehensive fundraising efforts through direct donor/prospect cultivation, solicitation and stewardship. The AVP will lead in the strategy development of the university's top prospects and provide oversight of three fundraising programs: Principal Gifts (PG), Planned Giving and Family Philanthropy. The AVP will manage a PG level portfolio (5M+) and will develop long-term relationships that enhance the success of Lehigh's fundraising goals. The AVP will report to the Vice President of Development and Alumni Relations and will directly manage: Assistant Vice President of Planned Giving and Family Philanthropy and the Associate Director for Principal Gift Operations. Along with the VP, the AVP will work directly with the President to develop and execute on cultivation and solicitation strategies for the donor/prospects able to give at the highest levels of philanthropic capacity, including relevant members of the Board of Trustees. The AVP, is a member of the DAR Executive team, and will work closely with all members of the DAR Executive Team to determine division-level policy, procedures and an office culture based on performance-oriented management. This position is a Grade: 14-40 with an approximate salary range of $171,910-$209,160 and is subject to change based on experience, skills and qualifications

1. Lead the Principal Gifts program, ensuring that there are comprehensive and highly personalized strategies and solicitation plans on each prospect in the pool and that gift officers have the resources and knowledge needed to develop these plans.

•Oversee Principal Gift strategy development of the top donors to Lehigh University.
•Work directly with those gift officers assigned to Principal Gift prospects to develop personalized strategies and solicitation plans leveraging Lehigh's faculty, senior administrators, trustees/volunteers and DAR colleagues and that those strategies are implemented to effectively move donors along the development continuum.
•Build the Principal Gift culture in DAR and across campus, educating colleagues, faculty and senior administrators on the importance of strategic relationship building with Principal Gift donors and the dependency between these relationships and successfully meeting campaign goals.

2. Partner with the VP to manage a portfolio of Presidential prospects, working directly with the President to develop and execute on highly personalized cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies.

•Actively manage a list of prospects and donors assigned to the President, ensuring current strategies are discussed, coded and next steps are executed on within the agreed upon timeframe.
•Work directly with the President, to ensure he's fully briefed and has needed knowledge and services prior to all scheduled meetings with prospects and donors.

3. Develop long-term relationships with key and prospective donors to secure financial support for the university's top priorities

•Manage a personal portfolio of Principal Gift prospects, including members of the Board of Trustees.
•Identify, engage, solicit and steward Principal Gift prospects who have the capacity to provide philanthropic support of seven- and eight-figure gifts.
•Cultivate these individuals by serving as a spokesperson for the University and in support of the University campaign and related priorities.

4. Provide leadership for Planned Giving, Parents and Family Philanthropy and overseeing the development of a program that leverages the University's relationship with many multi-generational families.

•Work directly with the VP and the Assistant Vice President of Planned Giving and Family philanthropy, to develop individual strategies that ensure that Lehigh becomes, or remains, a philanthropic priority for this constituency.
•Provide management oversight and direct interaction with donors/prospects as needed.
•Manage the development of a sustainable program intended to maximize philanthropy from multi-generational families with the highest philanthropic capacity.
•Identify and build value-added programming in each area that will lead to more informed constituencies, better engagement, and increased philanthropic support.

Qualifications

•Bachelor's Degree; Master's Degree preferred

•Years of experience may substitute for advanced degree

•Eight or more years of related work experience
